Tarra comes from an education background starting her teaching career in Vancouver, Canada,  teaching primary students. She went overseas to continue to teach at a primary school in Mexico City for one year and more recently taught high school as well as a held a Leading Teaching Position in Melbourne for 5 years. Following her love for the beach and warmer weather, she moved to Queensland to join the Keep Queensland team in January 2013.

Her passion to educate and to promote taking care of the  environment was instilled in Tarra at a young age from her mother (an educator as well) and father - as her family spent a lot of time camping, fishing and hiking whenever possible. The pristine environment that she grew up in, from the snowy mountains down to the river shores is a way of life that she wants for everyone. The importance of having children involved in preserving our environment and engaging  with it in a variety of ways, is definitely a worthwhile cause.
