Tony Barnet
Board MemberTony Barnet has had a lifetime of experience in contemporary media in its many forms.
Melbourne born and educated, his first job as an ad man led to a position with Graham Kennedy and the crew of IMT at GTV 9 in the late 50s. He wrote for pop magazines in London in the Swinging 60s and returning to Victoria owned and ran country newspapers. Moving north in the 70s he set up the news bureau, SPNS, on the Gold Coast. He joined Nine News in 1980 and State Affair at Seven in 1982. He went on to establish Seven Network bureaus in Fremantle (1985), Cairns (1987), and was L.A. Bureau Chief 1989-1992. In 2000 he quit TV to become a property manager/investor.
