Terms and Conditions

All entries become the property of Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland.

To apply you must be a Queensland school, business, local government, community group or other group auspiced by an incorporated body.  An auspicing body is required for non-incorporated groups for distribution of the Award prize money.

Candidates will be short-listed based on applications submitted via the official entry form.

Judging will be done by an experienced, independent panel of Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland judges.  Judging will take into account a community’s school’s or workplace’s geographic, environmental, cultural and economic circumstances, and assess how efficiently and effectively the community, school or workplace uses its available resources, against the four criteria.

Entrants will be short-listed and judged on four criteria that carry an equal weighting of 25%.  The first three criteria (Planning, Implementing and Monitoring, and Partnering) are based on what you are currently doing and the fourth (Winning) is based on what you plan to do if you win.

The judges will determine the winner and five highly commended entrants for each category.  The Healthy Communities prize pool is $1 million consisting of one winner ($750,000) and five highly commended winners ($50,000 each). The Healthy Schools prize pool is $500,000 consisting of one winner ($250,000) and five highly commended winners ($50,000 each). The Healthy Workplaces prize pool is $100,000 consisting of one winner ($50,000) and five highly commended winners ($10,000 each).

The prize money allocated to the Award winners and highly commended entries is not negotiable.  You should clearly define how you would proceed with your project if you win the winners prize or the highly commended prize.  If you win, you will be contacted by a Queensland Government departmental officer to arrange for a funding agreement to be established between the prize winner and the Department of Communities (Healthy Communities), Department of Education and Training (Healthy Schools), or Queensland Health (Healthy Workplaces).

The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
